Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - ROUNDLE PARK (12) races forward and has been narrowly beaten here in both race starts. Out in trip and rates to go one better. SIENA WOLF (10) also presents third up and was beaten 1L at Hobart at her latest. Races well here and is a threat. GEEGEE AUNTY JESS (8) peaks off three placed efforts at the track. Draws a bit awkwardly and has to drop back to a shorter sprint. ISSIMA LOUVRE (3) debuts and has trialled well. Needs a good ride but deserves consideration. CHALONG (1) wasn't far away here on resumption and can get some of the minor cash.
RACE 2 - EARENDEL (1) stepped up to the mile and won a Hobart 60 comfortably. Has a claim today and maps for the run of the race. He has won here and can go on with it. AL MAXIMUS (3) has threatened here his last three starts. Runs the trip right out, and will come hard. FASHION FOX (6) missed a whisker here over this trip in a 66, and the form reads well. He's been kept on the fresh side. SUGOI LEGEND (5) surprised the market, narrowly beaten at Hobart over a mile. Draws better and is in the mix. STEELE MY SUNSHINE (7) tackles this distance for the first time, but is going well enough to consider.
RACE 3 - SIMPLY DEEP (1) won three trials and then led and delivered his Maiden here on debut. Draws low again and keeps a 1.5kg claim. Strips fitter, and he can take the next step. HIGHLAND DUEL (2) resumed here in stronger, heavily bet and was plain. His form at the back of his last preparation more than stacks up, and with a claimer aboard, deserves another chance. OHSHE'STROUBLE (3) resumes for the new yard, owning a 6.5L Longford trial win. She has the rail, and the former Victorian is proven fresh. Has to be considered. PLATINUM REGGAE (6) has been freshened off her easy Maiden win here and drawn to advantage, will be in it for a long way. SAY IT WITH WORDS (4) resumes with a 2kg claim, and he's trialled well here. Minor hope.
RACE 4 - ANYWAYS ROXIE (1) is speedy and brings compelling form to resumption. She's proven fresh and owns a trial win. She's sure to take beating. BOLD INSTINCT (2) flies at this track and trip and delivered a 68 here last time from the front. Has winning claims holding that form. PERIWINKLE (5) runs along and didn't see out the longer sprint at Hobart. She was narrowly beaten at her two starts before and will present at peak fitness. Gets in well with the 2kg claim and placed her only start this course/distance. ARUMA (4) has been within range and wouldn't be out of it if things go her way.
RACE 5 - BAYSIDE (1) belted the Maidens here by 5L on debut and has been beaten a whisker at the track at his two following. Races forward and keeps the 1.5kg claim. Drops back to a sprint, but doubt that will worry. RICH GLOW (2) had been going well before lining up here against the above, and losing the rider at the start. Has a handy 2kg claim today and can feature over the shorter journey. RUBICK'S AFFAIR (5) spiked her figures winning a 60 this track/trip and won't have to improve much to be in the finish. MOHNAR (3) folded up from the speed in the Bayside race, but missed a nose prior. She may stick on better. LION'S TOOTH (4) rates better than the form-line suggests, and Darmanin is a key jockey switch.
RACE 6 - NIGHT PEOPLE (6) is a former Victorian who resumed for the new yard with a near miss at Hobart. He was expected to win there following, but didn't finish it off. He's placed 2/2 third-up and wins this comfortably at best. GEEGEES CITY BOY (5)will be fitter for the two narrow defeats here. The longer sprint suits and he's a live chance. DAYAN STAR (3) continues to race well and is better suited back to a sprint. Maps well, and the top hoop is reunited. CHICANE (2) deserved his 66 win this track/trip and will be around the mark. Ditto NO ACCESS (4), who was better last time.
RACE 7 - THOROS OF MYR (1) is a leader who spiked his figures when winning a Cl2 by 5.5L this track/trip. Fitter again, and has a handy claim today. Draws inside, and he can go on with the job. GUNSHIP (8) led over longer here last time and didn't see it out. He missed a whisker prior, and the top hoop replaces the 3kg apprentice. He settles forward and should go close. STARS IN THE NIGHT (4) resumed with a near miss behind the above and then just missed in stronger than this. She's fast, and the 2kg claim brings her right into it. CORNELIAN BAY (3) went well first up against the above and is proven second-up. Has more to give, and the inside barrier should advantage. ALPINE BLAST (2) tries hard and may be the best of the rest.
RACE 8 - SPRING BEAN (3) missed the hat-trick here by a nose and keeps improving. Maps well and is ready for the step up to the mile. The top hoop is reunited and has won three times on the gelding. SHY GUY (2) improved again, winning a CL2 this track/trip. The inside barrier should be an advantage, and he's the likely danger. CARNEROS (1) wasn't too far away in the Spring Bean race and will be around the mark putting his best foot forward. GEE GEE CAN WIN (4) is on the improve and will be hitting the line over the longer trip. KIREINA MARUBRAH (5) has to run out the mile but should be around the mark.
