Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - RAGING FORCE (2) returns from a lengthy break and drops many levels for this. Gelded over the break since making his debut when sixth over 1000m in the G3 Breeders' Plate at Randwick last October. Fitted with the one 740m trial and looks too good for these from the inside gate. IT STAYS IN VEGAS (5) resumes after knocking up late on debut when an even fifth over 900m at Scone. Expected to have strengthened over the break and recent 900m trial win had merit. ANDREA (1) resumes after closing off strongly on debut when a game fifth over 900m at Newcastle. Shea Wilkes keeps the ride and the claim will prove valuable. First starter ISSY'S STAR (7) looks the pick of the rest.
RACE 2 - BALLY ISLE (4) showed potential in two career starts and resumes in a winnable race. Gritty performance from the wide gate when a tough on pace fifth over 1000m at Gunnedah. Back without a trial and will prove hard to stop from the low draw. CLAN D'ORO (6) comes here in peak condition and will find this easier after failing to get through the heavy going when a tiring seventh over 1200m at Tamworth. Well drawn and maps to get the right run again. SHACKAMAXON (11) poorly drawn on resumption for the new stable when a plugging sixth over 1130m at Grafton. Finally has a decent barrier and capable of better. LAST LALIQUE (8) in leading Scone stable and can play a leading role on debut. BRUMMAGEN (1) the blinkers go back on for his return and after a long spell, the market will be your best guide.
RACE 3 - Tricky staying test with plenty of chances. IMAGE OF THE SUN (5) gets out in trip for the first time this prep and assess on her good win over the 1900m at Newcastle last September. Fourth up and the tongue-tie goes on. Sharp improver. CASCADE MOUNTAIN (2) keeps raising the bar this time in and chasing his fifth win from his last six starts. Anchored with the 61.5kg when a game on pace win over 2150m at Gunnedah. Looks ready for this stiffer contest. NATURE BOY (4) recent runs had been solid before having to work hard from the wide draw when a fading seventh over 2150m at Gunnedah. Gets nice weight relief with the claim and capable of better. THREW (6) rewarded for his consistency two back, before being outclassed when a plugging eighth over 2132m at Goulburn. Another who gets weight relief with winning apprentice back aboard. RING AHOY (1) tough gelding who gives the impression the extra trip will suit. Goes into the exotics.
RACE 4 - MCKEON (8) bounced off her eye catching sixth two back at Randwick, with a well deserved victory over 1200m at Gosford in Highway class. Confidence is high now and she has a good record at this track and trip. STRATIFIED (5) consistent gelding who's been around the money all prep. Nailed late when up in trip for an unlucky second over 1400m at Mudgee. Winning rider Braith Nock is back aboard and drop in trip will help his cause. PENSATIVA (11) improving filly who looks destined for bigger things. Comes to hand quickly from the low draw and not to be underestimated. INFERENCIA (3) has been freshened up and from a good gate, she can figure in the finish. SWAMP NATION (6) failed to fire last time out but can redeem herself here. Stick with her.
RACE 5 - PURPLE ROSE (9) finds her race third up on the quick back-up after finishing a creditable on pace third over 1200m at Goulburn in the heavy conditions. Gets the gun run again and should prove too good for these. LADY FELINA (12) failed to fire in two career runs and returns from a lengthy break. Fitted with two solid trials and look for her attacking the line late. STAR PREDICTION (1) comes here in peak condition and a win looks imminent. Stuck on well when back in trip for a handy second over 1300m at Scone. Capable of overcoming the wide draw and playing a leading role. JUSTICE WARRIOR (2) finished runner up at his first two runs back, before failing to finish off in the soft (7) going when sixth over 1100m at Hawkesbury. This is much easier and improvement expected. DEVINE CRUSADER (4) encouraging effort on debut and can surprise again at the each way price.
RACE 6 - ZOOMORPHIC (7) well bred gelding starting to put it all together in his four-year-old season. Chasing his third straight victory after putting away a good field as fav over 1400m at Dubbo. Maps well and expected to go close again from the inside gate. SIRIUS FLYER (11) has come back a more consistent commodity this prep and building a strong record. Came out fast from the sticky draw and pulled out plenty to get up over 1200m at Quirindi. Proven at this distance range and look for her late. RED RAGS TO BULLS (13) beaten for early speed on resumption and shuffled back from the low draw when a plugging eleventh over 1100m at Scone. Expected to improve sharply over this distance range. Each way. GREAT POINT (10) chipped away late at her first run and has solid second up credentials. Keep safe.
RACE 7 - MOVE SHE CAN (11) lightly raced mare with a ton of ability who can return to form with Reece Jones aboard. Copped a bump on jumping and got further back than expected when an eye-catching fifth over 1000m at Tamworth. Firmer surface helps and capable of taking this out. TWILIGHT ROCK (9) only the one win from eighteen starts and unlucky not to have a few more wins to his credit. Lugged the 62kg with distinction when a courageous second over 1000m at Dubbo. Drops in weight and capable of figuring prominently. CUMBOOGLE (1) only weakened late at Wellington last start over 1000m when leading to well into the home straight. The drop back to 1000m is the key, and he can bounce straight back into the winner's circle here. IN SPADES (5) has been running on strongly and with a likely hot pace being set here, she could have the last say. TOO DARN LOVELY (6) was a last start winner who will have the advantage of the pole position here. Stick with her.
