Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - LOOK IT'S LUCY (7) is unlucky to still be a maiden placing in nine of 13 overall and strikes a very winnable contest here. Drawn to sit up on speed from the inside alley and has placed two from two over this sprint journey. Rates the testing material. PRIVATE EQUITY (10) just missed the placings when resuming and is sure to have come on with that run now under the belt. Looms as the main danger. HE IS THE KISS (2) has had a few chances but has placed at the past couple of outings and looks the be nearing that elusive maiden victory. Top-three candidate. OVERTERN (8) strips fitter third-up from the spell and may earn some minor money. I'M A CHOCOHOLIC (6) rounds out the selections in a race with a long tail.
RACE 2 - The well-related AMUSEANTES (6) (half to G1 winner Startantes) just missed the placings at Doomben on debut and will have derived a stack of benefit from that race day experience. Wheeler sticks in the irons following that first-up effort and should be going very close against this line-up. FULLY SUBSCRIBED (12) strips fitter second-up from the break and gets the reliable Gollan/Jones combination. In the mix. THE TERMINATOR (5) will be better for that first-up hit-out, draws the inside alley and gets 2kg off with the claim. Ticks a few boxes. LOWER THE BOOM (1) showed ability winning a recent trial and any market support must be respected.
RACE 3 - DOUBLE WHAMMY (4) has finished runner-up in both outings this preparation and appears to be improving with racing. Ready to peak now third-up and shapes as the hardest to beat. Former Victorian ORMOND ROAD (3) has been just behind the placegetters in all three runs since joining the new stable and draws perfectly in gate two. Top-three credentials in a race like this. GLOBAL (6) may have suffered from the dreaded second-up syndrome last time out but go on the solid Ipswich placing on debut. Worth another chance. ELITE POWER (5) was never in the race last start and can show good improvement with Maloney booked.
RACE 4 - AKROTIRI (1) has returned in fine fashion stringing back-to-back wins together this campaign and is racing with a lot of confidence. Fenlon has been in the saddle for both victories and stays on top here. Drawn to get a gun run in transit from the inside alley and can bring up the hat-trick. LA COMETA (7) loves it here on her home surface with two wins and two placings from just five starts and looks ready for the step-up in trip now. Should be right there when the whips are cracking. BESTOWER (6) is a consistent conveyance who is usually thereabouts and draws well in gate two. Top-three credentials. THE RIGHT WAY (4) has placed five of his past six and gets plenty of weight relief with the 3kg claim. In the mix.
RACE 5 - AIR WE GO (1) didn't measure up at Listed level before the spell but will find this assignment much more to his liking. Looks well placed following a few key scratchings and should take some beating on his home track. NIRVANA THE STORM (5) comes here off a freshen (44 days) having won narrowly at Beaudesert last start. Can measure up off the back of that. AQUATIER (12) was only narrowly edged out last start and only looks to have to repeat that level of performance to be right in the finish again. BANK BOOK (13) the best of the rest.
RACE 6 - BIRMINGHAM (2) was a touch plain at the latest effort but the back-to-back wins prior were good enough for a race of this calibre. Only needs some luck from the wide draw to be featuring in the finish. TALAKAI (11) was a dominant winner in lesser grade last time out and has earned her shot in this company. Hard to ignore mares in form. GOT YOURSELF A GUN (4) has placed three of his past four and may earn another cheque. TOUCHOFCLASS (15) has drawn off the track but should roll forward and is more than capable.
RACE 7 - DIABLO BOLT (2) grows a leg for hoop Guthmann-Chester who has five wins and a placing from just seven steers. Strips fitter second-up from the spell and is yet to taste defeat in three spins around this circuit. Rates the leading contender. RAF ATTACK (4) has been competing in much harder NSW contests and will find this task a bunch easier. Draws low for Maloney and can make his presence felt. MISSISSIPPI PRINCE (3) has the pace to sit up on speed and should give backers a sight. ZOOLOGY (5) next in line.
RACE 8 - They'll go like the clappers in this contest. TERMAGANT (1) resumes here but the form she showed when last in work was good enough to play a major role in a race like this. Has three wins and a second from five attempts over this track and trip and a strong first-up showing would not shock. TIJUANA TWO STEP (12) has won two from two over this sprint trip and gets some weight relief with the 2kg claim. Don't discount mares in form. GREYZOUS (21) is a big watch fresh having trialled well at the Gold Coast. Rates well on best form and has to be included in the main chances. ACRES AWAY (5) was very game at Doomben last start and appears the next in line.
RACE 9 - The penny has dropped for SER JOH (6) who has won three of his past four starts with the only failure coming behind a pretty smart one at Eagle Farm two back. Has placed two from two around this circuit and is a three-time winner over this distance range. Expect another bold showing. JOHN RAMBO (3) goes well for hoop Harley who has two wins from just three steers and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside marble. Right in this contest. BOHEMIAN LAD (7) has won three of four at this track and strips fitter third-up from the break. Top-three conveyance. WEIGALL TIGER (4) is yet to miss a drum in four first-up runs and can run a big race while fresh.
RACE 10 - Cracking contest to close out the card. STREAK OF WINNING (6) resumes but the form he displayed in his first preparation was very hard to fault. Looks to have plenty of upside and shapes as the hardest to beat following a few key scratching. BODY OF VENUS (16) is a last-start winner who shouldn't be slept on. Closed off well to win at Port Macquarie last start and shapes as one of the main dangers. ESTRONDO (7) was good fresh before never in the race last start. Much easier here and has to be included. FIGHTING IDOL (1) the best of the rest.
