Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - Tricky race to kick off the card with many of these babies facing the starter for the first time. Of the raced brigade MINGELA (3) was well-found on debut but just ran into one better at Doomben in a promising performance. Will have derived a stack of benefit from that day at the races and should find this assignment a touch easier. Rates the testing material. MISHANI MOET (10) has race experience on her side and has tuned up for this with a recent trial hit-out. Can feature with natural improvement. OVER DRAFT (4) is a first-starter that has shown some ability at the trials and any market support must be noted. I'M LUCKY TWO (14) will be better for that first-up outing and may earn some minor money. HELL TO THE LINE (1) is sure to be well-educated from the Geran camp and a watch on betting is advised.
RACE 2 - HEROIC BEACH (1) is unlucky to still be a maiden finishing runner-up at his past couple and strikes a very winnable contest here. Will be cherry-ripe now fourth-up, draws favourably and gets some weight relief with the 3kg claim. Ticks a few boxes. STABILIZER (4) just missed the placings when facing the starter for the first time and will have derived a bunch of benefit from that race day experience. Looks a solid top-three conveyance. LUCKY MAN (18) has placed two from five here on his home circuit and gets Melbourne Cup winning hoop Dolan on board from gate two. Has to be considered. REVANTAS (2) was a handy second here on debut and Tomizawa sticks in the saddle. In the mix. SHEDRIVESABENTLEY (11) next in line with the claim.
RACE 3 - WANT TO BE PROUD (1) has been on the doorstep of a maiden victory placing in all three efforts this time in work and this is not an overly strong affair. Has placed two from four around this circuit and should be going very close to shedding the maiden tag against this lot. SHE'S GOT LYRICS (6) resumes here but the form she showed when last in work was good enough for a race of this calibre. Expecting a strong showing while fresh. ONATARE (10) has hit the top-five in all seven career outings and is yet to put in a poor one. A must for the multiples. KOBE ASCOT (4) has a had few chances but has placed three of four over this six-furlong journey and may earn some minor money again. WORLDY SPIRIT (11) will be rock-hard fit for this and can play a role with any luck from the wide draw.
RACE 4 - FIRE AND LIGHT (2) is a very honest commodity who has remarkably hit the top-four in all 12 starts since joining the new stable. Should find this easier than recent efforts in town and will prove very tough to hold out. VERMILION KIRIN (6) just ran into one better at Doomben last time out and is drawn to get all the favours from the inside marble. Sure to be right there at the business end. SAMURAI WARRIOR (5) saves his best form for his home circuit here with a win and four placings from just five spins. Has to be included in calculations. ARTZINO (1) disappointed last start but go on the close-up second at Ipswich two back. Worth another chance. TOUCHOFCLASS (8) rounds out the selections in a competitive affair.
RACE 5 - AKAKA FALLS (2) loves this sprint journey with three wins and four placings from just eight attempts and gets plenty of weight off with the 3kg claim. In a suitable race and can build on the solid recent form. RAN NA LADY (6) has won two from two when second-up and gets in well at the weights with the claim. Top-three aspirations. Former NSW galloper DEHORNED UNICORN (1) returned a winner for the new stable and has a bit of class over this field. In the mix. BIOGRAPHER (4) is first-up here but has a handy fresh record and a bold showing is expected. UNO MOON (3) has been knocking on the door of late and looks a must for the exotics.
RACE 6 - The well-related MAPLE DOOR (5) (half to G2 winner Oak Door) got an overdue win over this track and trip last time out and will have taken a bunch of confidence from that victory. Winning rider Zechner sticks in the irons and should be going very close again. LIZZIE'S PRIDE (13) loves it here around this circuit with two wins and nine placings from 17 starts and gets in light with the 2kg claim. Expecting another solid performance. BOOGA RAY (7) couldn't have been more impressive saluting by over three lengths here at the latest effort and looks ready for the step-up to the mile journey now. Shouldn't be underestimated. BETTER YET (3) has hit the top-five at her past four starts and is one for the exotics players. MOOTESSA (6) next best with the claim from the favourable draw.
RACE 7 - FREEMAN (7) was a touch flat at the latest effort but the three runs prior to start the campaign were full of merit. Has been given a bit of a freshen up since that last-start failure and can improve enough to play a major role in the finish. KELANOA (6) is a consistent commodity who has hit the top-five in 12 of her past 13 starts and rarely runs a bad race. Gets Melbourne Cup winning hoop Dolan in the saddle and should be going very close again. LITTLE SPARK (10) is one from one over this course and distance and gets in very light with the claim. Top-three credentials on best form. MISHANI SUSPECT (8) has gotten better with each run this time in and will be ready to peak now fourth-up from the break. In the mix. RUBYDOO (5) is a last-start winner who shouldn't be slept on.
RACE 8 - Competitive contest to close out the card with many last-start winners engaged. Former NSW galloper BIG BOY GEORGE (6) looked good saluting over this course and distance when having his first run for the new stable and winning rider Wheeler stays in the stirrups. Will be high on confidence following that first-up victory and can go right on with the job now. HAYSIRI (4) resumes here but the form he showed when last in work was good enough for a contest of this nature. Can return in winning order. The well-related REGGIE'S FOLLY (11) (half to G1 winner Heavens Above) is a former Victorian having his first run for the new barn. Respect any market confidence. LUPINE (16) is a winner around this circuit, draws low and gets 3kg off with the claim. Ticks a few boxes. BEARHUG (8) best of the rest while fresh.
