Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - LONG WAIT (5) will find this much easier than her latest assignment when running at Pinjarra over the mile. She had been in good form prior at Albany, and those figures stack up highly in this field. The 4kg claim comes in handy and if she handles the dirt, she'll take beating. CASINO ROYALE (1) just missed over 1200m at this track last time out and now rises up to the 1400m journey which looks a good play. Faithfull hops in the saddle now which is a good push for his chances and he should be getting close to his peak. SWEET EYES (8) has switched stables since going under as favourite at Kalgoorlie 12 days ago, now lining up for the Zach Tyler barn. Still a 3YO and can play a role if she runs up to recent efforts. KUNAPIPI (9) had disappointed in recent efforts but will find this a much easier assignment. Form earlier this campaign makes for good reading. IFFUBLUSH (6) is next best.
RACE 2 - TORQUED UP (4) wasn't beaten far two back at Pinjarra before going under again last start, but this looks a suitable race as he drops in grade. He possesses some early speed which will help on the dirt course and the 4kg claim will see him a tough commodity to run down. ELITE JEWEL (9) disappointed last start at Bunbury after making a nice start to the campaign down in Albany. She'll need a touch of luck from the barrier, but she has a few figures in her profile that suggest she can play a role in the finish. BATTLE ON BATTLER (1) won well over this track and trip first-up at his first time of asking. The wide draw this time is a niggle, however he rates highly on that latest effort and with extra fitness on his side, he can go back-to-back. ROSA BALLERINA (11) bumped into one fresh and never factored when back in grade last time out. Out to 1200m again now is a big tick and she can bounce back. IMPENDING FEATURE (8) is also in the mix.
RACE 3 - EXPOROSE (4) ended up midfield last start and resented the kick back at her first time on this course. She had led in her previous efforts, so expect Faithfull to adopt those tactics this time around with her form last campaign stacking right up. She can return to winning ways. AROOCHACHA (6) resumed with a dominant win over this track and trip a fortnight ago, blending into the race nicely and pulling away to score by 2.2L. He carries no weight again after the claim of Tsang and if he can run up to that performance, he'll go close to winning again. ROMERO (8) led them up here last start over 1000m and just faded late in the race. His second-up record isn't the best, though he's never been tried over this track and trip and he maps well. Can put his best foot forward. GENERAL KNOWLEDGE (2) hasn't been far away in recent efforts and the rise to 1200m is no issue. Can be in the finish again. WISE WORDS (3) boasts a good record at this track and trip and has to be included.
RACE 4 - THE COOLAKIN KING (3) steps up to the mile for the first time which doesn't look an issue after an impressive last-start win from the front. Expecting Webster to take up a similar role from a handy gate and he'll be very hard to run down if he sees out the mile journey. NEVER SOBER (6) has been racing at Kalgoorlie recently and he may find this a little easier than recent efforts. Now with the Zach Tyler stable, the figures he's turned in recently in defeat suggest he's not far off the mark. Yuill replaces the apprentice hoop and he can be in the finish. IRONCLAD BOY (2) sustained an effort to run away with an easy win over this course and distance last time out, scoring by 2L as the race favourite. This is tougher, but this shapes nicely for him and there's no reason why he can't go back-to-back. DARK MIST (8) will appreciate the easier race today and can bounce back to form. CHUCK A LUCK (7) drops right back in trip today but has claims on his recent figures.
RACE 5 - WESTERN IMPACT (9) settled back in the run and launched a long attack as he ran away for a dominant win over this track and trip a fortnight ago. While that's hard to replicate, it does look to shape similarly this time from a wide barrier and he's well weighted under the conditions. Can bring up back-to-back wins. DESERT SLEEVE (10) drops back to 1400m today where he doesn't boast the best record, though he never got into the race over the mile last time out. Now drawn inside and with no weight on his back, his best form rates well among this field and a return to that level will see him in the finish. LE TROY (8) is racing in good order this time in and finished behind Western Impact last time out. Racing in good order and that formline looks the one to follow when assessing this race. TRADED CROWN (6) comes into this off a let-up and his last start produced some strong form. Worth including. DIVINE JUDGEMENT (2) is next best.
RACE 6 - CHEEKY CHARLOTTE (5) landed midfield but was too good late in the race here last time out, scoring a 0.3L victory as favourite at her first time at this track and trip. She rises in weight, but it's hard to ignore her latest effort and the vibe is that she'll be improved again. Can repeat the dose. CITY MISTRESS (10) finished behind Cheeky Charlotte last time out when beaten 2.7L first-up. She never really looked comfortable there off a long layoff and without a trial, so with that run under her belt, she can improve sharply now and looks a key player. MOORDITJ BOY (3) was only fair to end last campaign at Albany, though getting back to this trip looks a good move. Now with the new barn, he draws well and can be thereabouts with the aid of a 4kg claim. WAR TACTICS (9) was plain last time out but has figures much better than that. Can improve third-up. FAMEUX (6) won't be far away despite the wide gate.
