Racing & Sports expert selections.
RACE 1 - MISHANI LILY (1) has a handy record around this circuit with two wins and a second from four spins and will be ready to peak now third-up from the spell. Looms as the main danger. BREAK FREE (2) has won three of four overall with the only failure coming at Group 3 level here. Drawn to get a gun run from the inside alley and rates a genuine top-three contender. SHE OURS (3) wasn't too far off them at Listed level last time out and will appreciate the slight drop back in grade in this. In the mix. AMUSEANTES (6) was solid when back in trip last start at the Sunshine Coast. While this is tougher, she has the platform to improve and can be thereabouts. PETITE PALACE (5) is a place hope off a solid first-up win.
RACE 2 - TERMAGANT (10) wasn't too far away when resuming and the form she showed when last in work was good enough for a race of this calibre. Is one from one over this track and trip and has saluted on all going. Ticks a lot of boxes. JOHN RAMBO (6) saves his best form for this six-furlong journey with five wins and five placings from 14 attempts. Goes well for hoop Maloney and is sure to play a big role. The well-related SET TO SHINE (7) (full to 2xG3 winner and 3xG2 placed Houtzen) was a touch disappointing last time out but the form prior was full of merit. Worth another chance. FLAG HALL (2) is a two-time winner around this circuit and will be high on confidence following that last-start Ipswich victory. Respect from the Freedman yard. GODFATHER (14) strips fitter second-up from the spell and only needs some luck from the wide draw to be playing a key role.
RACE 3 - A cracking edition of the $200,000 Battle Of The Bush Final. Old marvel REAL KEY (2) showed he still has a zest for racing putting back-to-back victories together and gets the services of Maloney on board to navigate from the sticky draw. Is a nine-time winner over this six-furlong trip and should be right there when the judge calls a halt. Former Hawkes-trained galloper RECRUITER (10) has hit the top-four in ten of 11 starts since relocating to the Ludwig barn and doesn't know how to put in a poor one. Will be rock-hard fit for this and draws perfectly for Clark in gate one. Cannot be underestimated. UNDER THE LIMIT (11) has strung three wins together on the bounce and is racing with a lot of confidence. Hard to ignore. INVAHIR (6) has grown a leg since joining the Webster barn and has to be included. MR METRICS (9) next best despite the awkward draw.
RACE 4 - The $160,000 Listed Tattersall's Stakes. BRAVE DESIGN (1) broke through for a well-deserved win in the Listed Oxlade Stakes here last time out and will have derived a stack of confidence from that victory. Meets a lot of similar gallopers in this contest and maps well from gate two. Should be going very close again. AUTUMN BOY (5) got the maiden out of the way at Canterbury on debut and gets the deadly Waller/McDonald combination. Can go back-to-back to commence the career. DUKE OF ARRAKIS (6) is another to shed the maiden tag first time at the races and winning hoop Bayliss sticks. Tougher company here but looks up to the task. The well-related FABULANTES (3) (full to G1 winner Startantes) draws low for Clark and is one for the multiples. ROYAL CHIC (13) also hails from a handy family (half to G1 winner Royal Merchant) and may earn some minor money again.
RACE 5 - The $200,000 Group 3 Tattersall's Cup. SIR LUCAN (1) returned to the winners' circle last time out with a strong win in the Winter Cup at Rosehill and will have come on even further following that second-up hit-out. Sticks to the 12-furlong trip here and should get a cosy run in transit from the favourable draw. Rates the testing material. HEZASHOCKA (2) has been thereabouts in recent efforts and does boast a win over this track and trip. Has a bit of class on these and should be right there at the business end. MANZOICE (6) has placed three of his past four and looks to be back in a semblance of form. One for the multiples. BANKERS CHOICE (3) has two wins and a second from three attempts at the trip and shouldn't be ignored.
RACE 6 - The $200,000 Listed Tattersall's Gold Crown. MARE OF MT BULLER (3) has been racing very consistently over shorter trips this preparation and looks ready for the step-up to the 2100m now. Gets McDonald on from a far more favourable draw this time and should be right there when the whips are cracking. MISS JOELENE (6) wasn't too far away in the Ipswich Cup last time out and is on the quick back-up here. Draws the inside marble and can give this a mighty shake. Import QUIETNESS (8) looked handy in his local debut at Randwick and is sure to have derived benefit from that hit-out. Top-three prospects. PULCHRITUDINOUS (1) is a bit hit or miss but is more than capable enough on her day. Among the main hopes. KIND WORDS (9) best of the rest.
RACE 7 - The $160,000 Listed Tattersall's Mile. THE INFLICTOR (6) certainly wasn't disgraced in the Group 1 Stradbroke at the latest effort coming home less than five lengths behind the winner and will appreciate the sharp drop back in company here. The form prior to that was full of merit and will be at peak fitness now. Likely to feature prominently. SIBAAQ (5) put in his best run for a while last start over this track and trip and can feature with further improvement again. RISING PACIFIC (4) goes well for jockey Mallyon who has three wins from just four steers. Has only missed a drum once in seven attempts at this course and distance and looks a must for the multiples. The well-related QUEEN OF DRAGONS (8) (full to G2 winner Paris Dior) next in line. CHICA MOJITO (11) can be a bit of a frustration for punters, though she is a classy customer on her day and rarely runs a poor one.
RACE 8 - The feature race on the card, the $700,000 Group 1 Tattersall's Tiara. Former Victorian FLOOZIE (10) has greatly appreciated the move to the Gollan barn stringing four wins together on the bounce, with three of those victories coming around this circuit. Jones has been on board for all of those wins and it's hard to ignore mares in form. Goes on top. FIRESTORM (5) hit the line strongly behind Floozie when resuming and will have taken benefit from that hit-out. Gets McDonald on from a wide draw and can play a role with any luck in running. TASHI (13) has just found one better at the past three efforts but has earned her shot at this level now. Keep safe. GRINZINGER BELLE (2) resumes here but has a solid first-up record and should give backers a sight up on speed. ZASZOU (14) is a last-start Listed winner who shouldn't be slept on.
RACE 9 - The $200,000 Group 3 W.J.Healy Stakes. You'd love to own a stable full of gallopers like the well-related NEED SOME LUCK (8) (half to 6xG1 winner Chautauqua) who has only missed a drum once in 13 career starts. Is yet to miss a quinella spot in nine attempts over this trip and has a great affinity with hoop Berry. Looks very hard to toss. HIDDEN WEALTH (1) returned to form here last time out after two plain performances to start the campaign. Might be back now and has a winning hope on best figures. GENERAL SALUTE (3) also hails from a handy family (half to G2 winner Brutality) and loves this trip with three wins and a second from six outings. In the mix. METALART (9) doesn't know how to run a bad race and may trouble the judge from the low draw. AUSTMARR (11) next best in an open affair to close out the card.
